Art Slutsky Day is the research highlight for our University of Toronto IDCCM community each year. It is held each June at the Munk School of Global Affairs and is a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to the leadership and legacy of our former University of Toronto Critical Care Chair- Dr. Art Slutsky- and to celebrate the important achievements and stature of our diverse pediatric, adult and interprofessional critical care community across the University of Toronto.
AS Day 2018 had a record attendance of 152 faculty, trainees, and other colleagues. Faculty judges vetted 63 abstracts encompassing basic and clinical science, quality improvement, physiology and education contributed by our adult and pediatric trainees. The quality and breadth of the academic work was uniformly exceptional and we have so much to be proud of and to celebrate as an interdepartmental group.
We were honoured this year to host Dr. Marc Moss, Roger S. Mitchell Professor of Medicine, Vice Chair of Clinical Research, University of Colorado and past president, American Thoracic Society as our AS Day visiting professor and to speak on ‘Uncovering the Silent Epidemic of Burnout Syndrome and Psychological Distress in Critical Care Healthcare Professionals’. For our inaugural Art Slutsky Day 2017, we had the pleasure of hosting another very eminent speaker and international critical care thought leader- Dr. Daniel Talmor- Chair of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School.
Please join us for for another exciting AS Day 2019 scheduled for June 18, 2019! This year, the AS Day Visiting Professor will be Dr. Elie Azoulay.
